Kai Streicher

Life Cycle Assessment and Data Science Director

Kai Nino Streicher leads our LCA and Data Science expert team. Together, they conceptualize and develop technological solutions and blueprints for SustainCERT’s software and services, which they then validate through client use case trajectories – no small feat.

After several years working in environmental engineering, sustainability science, data and energy system modelling in an academic context, Kai decided to switch gears by joining SustainCERT. He wanted to use his research experience to help develop impactful business-related products for a more sustainable future. We are glad he made the move!

Deep expertise and knowledge is not the only thing Kai brings with him. German national currently living in Geneva, Switzerland, he likes to share a new year tradition from his hometown, Reutlingen, wherever he goes. It involves rolling dices and awarding the winner with a unique – and tasty – pastry called “Mutschel”. But let’s discover more about Kai by reading his own words!

  • Why does bringing credibility to climate action matter to you?

I believe we are currently not using our natural, financial and social resources most efficiently and sustainably. Shifting to resource efficiency requires life cycle thinking and, most importantly, reliable data to ensure that our economic activities limit harmful effects on the environment and social systems.

  • What do you like to do during the weekends?

In the warmer months, you might often spot me from the shores of lake Geneva, paddling my way across the waters. In the colder months, my trails often lead me through snow-covered forests high up in the Swiss Alps, relying on either snow shoes or cross-country skis to bring me back safely home.

  • What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever done or seen before?

I have been blessed with many exciting experiences, but in a work-related context, the construction of my own biogas plant in Bangladesh sticks out!

  • Would you rather eat only fried food or boiled food for the rest of your life? Why?

That’s a tricky question! As cooking is my passion, I would say the combination of both creates magic. However, in my daily cuisine, I might have an inclination towards the pan.
